- December 3, 2009 -

Barbadian Alex Edghill won the Digicel Greatest Windies Fan competition held during the First Test in Australia.

Edghill secured for himself a highly prized autographed West Indies shirt for his triumph.

Fans were asked to submit – in 130 characters or less – on Twitter and Facebook why they were the greatest Windies fans and from the entries selected Edghill’s entry was selected as the winning one.

Edghill’s winning entry read: “I'm the greatest West Indies fan, not because of what they were, but because of what I see them becoming.”

Digicel will have another competition during the Second Test between West Indies and Australia.

On this occasion fans will be asked to guess the total number of runs which will be scored in the Test.

Each person will be allowed two entries and the deadline for submission will be the end of play on the second day of the Test.

All entries on Twitter must include the hashtag “#digicomp” while entries on Facebook must be posted on the Digicel Cricket fan page to qualify.

Another autographed Windies shirt is up for grabs.
