This afternoon after the pre-game team meeting the Windies players and some management rushed from the team hotel in Kingston to the nearby National Stadium to watch the Jamaica National Athletics Championships. The main attraction? The Usain Bolt v Asafa Powell face off in the men's 100m final.
Captain Chris Gayle was there. So too was head coach John Dyson who seemed pleased as punch. Several players were spotted mingling with fans, signing autographs and taking photographs before settling in to some premium seats to witness the clash. Shiv Chanderpaul was there with his older son Brandon. Ramnaresh Sarwan was there, so too Sulieman Benn and Denesh Ramdin and Ravi Rampaul. The Bravo brothers - Dwayne and Darren - were also on hand. The DigicelCricket.com paparazzi camera was also at the races and managed to take a few shots of the players before the big clash which Bolt won comfortably, posting 9.84 with Powell in second and Michael Frater in third.
Another Powell was also present. It was Daren, the fast bowler who is not currently in the sqaud but who mingled with his teammates and was seen laughing and having a good time.
